Bike 4 Betty...Family Fun Boosts Cancer Care!

Thank you for participating at this year's ride. See you next year Sunday May 29 2011.

Best ever ‘Bike 4 Betty’ raises over $200,000 for Trillium Health Centre!

The third annual ‘Bike 4 Betty’ family ride and festival was a huge success thanks to happy bicyclists, generous sponsors and an enthusiastic turn out for the Family Festival that followed the ride. An estimated 1,000 participants came to enjoy the sun and fun at Port Credit Memorial Park on Sunday, May 30.

Cyclists from novice to professional rode a choice of five routes, with the longest including a challenging circuit west towards the Niagara Escarpment. Young, old and everyone in between biked for ‘Betty’ who represents all the courageous women in our community and their families whose lives are touched by cancer.

New to the 2010 event was team fundraising and many Trillium staff members and their families joined in with gusto.

Proceeds from ‘Bike 4 Betty’ support cancer services at Trillium Health Centre. Additionally, participating Trillium employees could designate funds they raised to patient care areas of their choice.

The Foundation thanks founding sponsors Willson International and Gears Bike Shop for their generous support. “Bike for Betty is fast becoming one of the best charity events in the western GTA,” says Willson. “Willson supporters are already marking their calendars for next May.”

Kevin Wallace, co-owner of Gears, lost his mother Betty to breast cancer. “The community spirit here today is what is so important,” says Wallace. “We can all relate to this cause and we can all help find a cure.”

Sincere thanks go to sponsors Delta Toronto Airport West, Extreme Pita, Leewi Yoga, MetalWorks Production Group, Pizza Pizza, Quikrete Cement and Concrete Products, Premier Fitness, Longo’s and U2R1Media.

The Foundation is grateful to all who supported through pledges, online and cash donations, corporate sponsorship, volunteering or gifts-in-kind. Thank you for making this ‘Bike 4 Betty’ the best ever!
